I wish I could have this performance playing right here on this page. Alison Kraus singing James Taylor’s ‘Carolina In My Mind’. She sings it so beautifully.
.
Here is an early video of James Taylor singing ‘Carolina In My Mind’ when it was a new song and he was still shy when performing. This is the way I heard this song sung, hundreds of times I’m sure, when I was growing up.

Two items, both related to music, both related to creative persons who have died:
Ring of Fire - Johnny and June Carter Cash’s lake home burned to the ground.
Minstrel Boy remembers Vonnegut with this quote:
No Matter how corrupt, greedy, and heartless our government, our corporations, our media, and our religious and charitable institutions may become, the music will still be wonderful.
If I should die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC

UPDATE: The comments for this post are all posts in their own right. Please take some time and look through them. Today, May 15, 2007, the day of Jerry Falwell’s death, I have posted a letter (with permission) by Marc Adams of HeartStrong.org about how his experiences with Jerry Falwell and Liberty University inspired him to start HeartStrong.org (http://heartstrong.org/).
