I’ve had several requests to write more music for children.
.
I really enjoyed the day I spent, a couple of months ago in Tulsa, doing music assemblies for kids in an elementary school. They seemed to enjoy the music. I enjoyed singing for them..Yesterday, I was singing a few songs for an adult I know, and a four year old who was present said, “You could do CONCERTS!” That was a nice encouragement..
We sang an “A-E-I-O-U and sometimes Y” song. They loved it. They danced and sang along.I want to write a group of songs that are specifically for children, written for them and suitable for them.
.
I’d like some input on topics you think are appropriate for specific ages. Some of my songs on the Weird Duck cd are appropriate for some elementary school children. But, I’d like to write songs that are just right for kids as they experience life.
.
PLEASE COMMENT and give suggestions for songs you’d like to hear. What kind of songs would you like your child to sing? Will songs about brushing teeth and picking up toys help you and your kids?
.
If your kids have favorite singers, will you name them, too? I’d like to know who kids are listening to and what they enjoy. (At that elementary school, the kids in the talent show were lip-syncing to hip hop records. I think they were amazed and delighted to hear my songs about ducks and donkeys and dogs and geese.)

I’m working on a new round of songs. On http://efolkmusic.org , I have two digital albums up. One is Weird Duck. Almost all the songs are about animals and most could qualify as children’s songs. The other is Hungry When I Wake. It’s for adults, and the songs are stories about people I’ve seen or imagined. The digital albums are available for purchase. The individual songs are available free as mp3 downloads to eFolkMusic members.
.
Another cd, Lean In For A Kiss, is not yet available on efm. The (currently) free mp3 download “I Smile Again So You Won’t See Me Cry” is from that cd. Last year, I wrote songs for two more cds. I’m still waiting to record them in a studio. I hope to get started on that sometime this fall..So, when “Lean in For A Kiss” is available (recorded in 2003), and when the two cds from 2006 are online, and when the new group of songs are recorded and uploaded, there will be six cds available to download. Full length previews are available for every song that is available for download, so you can listen first and only keep the ones you like.
.
Thank you again for supporting folk music. If you’ve not yet checked out eFolkMusic it’s just a click away - http://efolkmusic.org .

Oh yeah, it’s “more, more, more!”
That’s a song by Billy Idol, for those of you whose brains have not already started screaming the song.
.
“Mow, mow, mow” is what I’ve been doing since returning to NC. I’ve been home just a few hours short of fifteen days, and I’ve mowed two yards three times each.
.
Today, in my yard I found (and photographed) a few things.
.
One baby bird (feathered, but not flying well) on the ground below its nest. Eventually, its mother returned and helped it home.
Two cups of ripe blackberries from vines along the fence in my backyard.
Three blooming stalks of gladiolas.
And, flowers everywhere. The yard is not covered with flowers, but the flowers are all around the yard. They’re not something you will see unless you take the time to notice. They’re hiding in flowerbeds and bushes and vines. It’s quite wonderful.

I’ve totally lost track of time. So, I did not even realize that today has an interesting date. My mom mentioned it at dinner after I asked, “Does anyone know the date?” Oh-seven-oh-seven-oh-seven.This evening, a friend directed me to a web page she enjoys. I especially liked this quote. It’s so true.
I’m Home!!! I’m Home!!! I’m Home!!! I’m Home!!! July 3, 2007
