As usual, Ellen uses good humor and her likable personality to bring attention to this important issue.
Good As You said:
As promised, here’s Ellen’s take on the Sally Kern situation:
It remains to be seen if Kern will return Ellen’s call. First she must do her research on whether or not the virus of gayness is transmittable via audible phone chats.

Sheriff: Woman sat on toilet for 2 years March 12, 2008

You know, stories like this are so weird. But, it’s also believable. WHY IS THIS BELIEVABLE? What kind of world do we live in that we just totally accept that this happened. Yet I do accept that this happened.
WICHITA, Kan. - Authorities are considering charges in the bizarre case of a woman who sat on her boyfriend’s toilet for two years — so long that her body was stuck to the seat by the time the boyfriend finally called police.
Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman’s skin had grown around the seat. She initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital.
“We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital,” Whipple said. “The hospital removed it.
There was a story a few years ago about a woman who was stuck to her couch. (She’d not been off the couch for a few years. Finally, someone called 911 and after a lot of time and effort by firefighters, police, EMT’s and others, this woman was removed from her house, still attached to her couch, and transported to the hospital (where she died, probably from the stress and humiliation of the experience!)
.
How is it that a caretaker would allow a person to sit on a piece of furniture, or on a toilet, for two years without calling for help? What was the mental status of that person? Did the person on the couch or toilet not have access to a telephone? Were there no other people who saw these women over the course of the years they were stuck? WHY DID NO ONE DO ANYTHING FOR TWO YEARS????
.
It’s just so weird. I don’t get it.
.
How tragic and sad for the people who were imprisoned by those circumstance.
.
What do you think? Why did this happen? Why do things like this happen?
.
Please note: This is not an invitation to post anti-heavy-people comments. I’m more curious about the thought process of the people who did not call for help for two (or more) years.

“People who are comfortable with their own sexuality are not threatened by others of a distinct orientation …” - Middle Sexes - Experiment on homophobia March 12, 2008

Videos exploring the phenomenon of homophobia and anti-gay violence:
Middle Sexes - Experiment on homophobia - 1998 study at Univ. of GA
Those who are outraged by by sexual deviation are often fighting something within themselves. In this particular experiment, the extend of the denial was further underlined by the answers to the question ‘How much did that video turn you on?’
Experiment on college students shows those who are homophobic gets most aroused when showed gay porn. And they’ll still deny it even when there’s hard evidence.
HBO Documentary on the Middle Sexes study
The latest documentary by award-winning filmmaker Antony Thomas (HBO’s Celibacy), Middle Sexes: Redefining He and She sensitively explores the controversial subject of the blurring of gender as well as the serious social and family problems - even dangers - often faced by those whose gender may fall somewhere in between male and female. Narrated by noted author Gore Vidal and filmed in the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America, Middle Sexes examines the ways different societies and cultures handle the blurring of gender, sexual identity and sexual orientation. Through interviews with transgender, intersexual and bisexual men and women, as well as experts from the scientific and academic communities, the film considers the entire spectrum of sexual behavior, personal identity and lifestyles among people of different backgrounds and cultures. From this, a theme of tolerance and appreciation of diversity emerges in the film.
Homophobia - you decide - pretty music in another language, photos and words
Problems of the world. Homophobia. Fag. Dyke … Abomination against God. Immoral.
You use these as insults. Right? Do you believe gays should die? Be rejected? Get therapy? …
This world is diverse. I want to love you, but I can’t. Lies are being spread.
Homosexuality is the same as anything. There are good people and there are bad.
But, the worst person is you … the hater.
I am a young homosexual boy. Tomorrow I will be bullied at school. Next week my parents will disown me.
I am a young homosexual girl. Tomorrow I will tell my friends I am gay. Next week I will have no friends.
I am a homosexual man. Tomorrow my workmates will break my possessions. Next week I will be stabbed.
I am a homosexual woman. Tomorrow I will be kicked out of my church. Next week I will be beaten and left all alone.
I am a transexual. Tomorrow I will not find empathy. Next week I will be suicidal. We are a homosexual couple. Tomorrow we will be spat upon. Next week we will be killed.
Everyone was created equal … and everyone had rights …
Why is homosexual love so wrong? Love is love, heterosexual or homosexual.
Every day 4 out of 10 homosexuals are assaulted, either verbally or physically.
That’s 4 too many …
Homosexual youths are 2 to 3 times more likely to commit suicide than their heterosexual peers.
… taking away many rights for homosexuals …
They can’t marry … they can’t adopt children … they can’t be themselves …
Since when should hate overpower love? When should everyone judge so coldly?
What did Matthew ever do to them … besides love?
No one should ever have to go through what Matthew did … but they do.
Because hate is a powerful tool … and it destroys everything it touches.
Homophobia is wrong … not even religion can justify it’s horrors.
Erase hate … and kiss goodbye to homophobia.
Erase the hate. You can make a difference.
