Just Another Silly Joke - Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth … March 25, 2008

[UPDATE March 27, 2008: You know, I don't even know why I posted this. This is not the kind of joke that makes me laugh. What makes me laugh are jokes like the government warning about swallowing chewing gum and the talking chocolate Easter bunnies. Those jokes got a laugh from me. I received this joke in an email from a friend, a girly girl (think sweet voice, sweet fragrance and diamonds) who has an edge and won't back down from a bully. But why did I post a joke I wouldn't even tell? I don't know. Maybe it's because it says the names and posts the photos of two women who have led extraordinary lives, women I'd be pleased to spend a genuine moment with. (I saw the Queen once, from a distance, when I visited London many years ago. I have never seen Dolly Parton in person.) It really is a silly joke, maybe worthy of junior high school. But, I can imagine Dolly laughing. I'm not sure what the Queen would do.]

The Zimmers Backstage at Graham Norton  (rock band, average age 79 years, combined age 3,000 years)

The Zimmers (New video edit v.2) Released 28/05/07

New Shots and more on this new video edit! Enjoy
www.myspace.com/thezimmersband
The oldest and greatest rock band in the world - meet The Zimmers and their amazing cover of The Who’s “My Generation”.
Lead singer Alf is 90 - it’s quite something when he sings “I hope I die before I get old”. And he’s not the oldest - there are 99 and 100-year-olds in the band!
The Zimmers will feature in a BBC TV documentary being aired in May 2007. Documentary-maker Tim Samuels has been all over Britain recruiting isolated and lonely old people - those who can’t leave their flats or who are stuck in rubbish care homes.

The song is released on 28.05.07 and coincides with the TV show ‘Power to the People’ which started it all! You can buy the CD from Tescos, Woolworths, HAV and Virgin Megastores as well as all good internet download sites

A friend who writes screenplays sent me this link. She said,

If the writers don’t get what they are asking…they are doomed! People will not be able to make a living when–in the near future–DVD’s are replaced by downloads from cable and the internet. They get NO residuals from this now!.”

She said this explains what’s at stake in this writers’ strike.
