Here are the rest of the ‘casual recordings’ from the “That’s the Way It Is” song collection.
I decided to go ahead and upload the rest of the songs from the “That’s the Way It Is” collection. This is the group of 14 songs I sent to the Copyright Office at the Library of Congress in April 2006. I also entered all of these songs in the Woody Guthrie Songwriters’ Contest. The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival is a yearly event in Okemah, Oklahoma. There’s a lot of great music there, and it’s free!
A few of the songs in this group are from songs I wrote in the 1990s, three are from 2001-2005. The rest are recent. It’s interesting (to me) that some of the ones written years ago could have been written recently. They seem to ‘fit’. I guess that’s the cool thing about songs. It doesn’t really matter how new or old they are. What matters is that you can relate to them in some way.
These (recordings of these) songs I’m posting were not originally intended for public play. I did quick recordings, so I could send the songs off to the copyright office and to a contest. But, these recordings are the only ones I have of these songs right now. And, I want to make them available for you to listen to if you want to hear them.
This site is a work in progress, an evolution with incremental changes each day. What I’m thinking right now is that I’ll keep posting these ‘casual recordings’, because I want the songs to be available for anyone to hear. As I’m able to get into a studio and officially put these songs into a studio-recorded cd (with better singing and playing and maybe some harmonies and other instruments), I’ll send them to eFolkMusic for them to make available for purchase, download and distribution.
