Happy 50th! Happy 4th!
A few weeks ago, I celebrated two birthdays. Neither was mine, so all I had to do was show up, mingle, eat great food and enjoy the moment.
The Gifts? Glass, of course!
I wanted to do something special. What would it be? Oh yes, something in glass would be nice. 😉
Given the constraints of my overly-scheduled life …
Given the constraints of my overly-scheduled life, the gifts were imagined and created right before the parties. In each case, just as with the baby shower gift and donation to a fundraiser recently, I found the time just in time, and finished the gifts right before I needed to leave home to give them.
Delight in a New Suncatcher Design
I was delighted with the gift for my 50 year old friend, a 3-color, 3-D suncatcher made of wavy strips of yellow, blue and green. It could not have turned out better. I only wished I could have adored it for a few days before giving it to her. 😉 It looks way better in person.
A Big ‘S’ Made of Red Granite Glass
I was not entirely satisfied with the gift for the 4 year old birthday, simply because it just wasn’t ‘perfect’ somehow. Maybe it had something to do with working about 6 hours (at my job) in the middle of the night, and then coming home and trying to create the letter ‘S’ out of little bits of red glass at 4am. I’m just hoping he’s happy with it. It’s his initial, his favorite color red, and he’s “my glass buddy”, so I guess it’s probably okay. He seems to like it a lot, so I’ll just have to get over the fact that it’s not a perfect ‘S’.
