What Can One Person Do?
Do you ever feel helpless in the face of all that is going on in the world? What can one person do?
I’m just one person. What can I do about global warming?
It is estimated that 50 million people globally took part in the Earth Hour 2008 event.
Turn Out the Lights
In 2007, the people of the city of Sydney, Australia led the way by turning off the lights for one hour. They showed us what one person can do by joining together and being a multitude of “1 person”s. In 2008, 50, million people around the globe participated in Earth Hour.
CHICAGO — The lights are going down from the Great Pyramids to the Acropolis, the Eiffel Tower to Sears Tower, as more than 2,800 municipalities in 84 countries plan Saturday to mark the second worldwide Earth Hour.
“Earth Hour makes a powerful statement that the world is going to solve this problem,” said Carter Roberts, chief executive of the World Wildlife Fund, which sponsors Earth Hour. “Everyone is realizing the enormous effect that climate change will have on them.” (huffingtonpost.com)
