Why Do People Search For “Ray Boltz Coming Out”?
I don’t think it’s about Ray as much as it’s about the issue of being Christian and coming to terms with being gay, and then figuring out how to integrate that into real life.
It’s about living a lifetime of hiding, even from oneself, and then realizing “silence = death”.
It’s about searching desperately for something that will make it all be okay.
Depression and Desperation Change to Light and Life
Ray’s depression and desperation, coupled with his family’s love and support, allowed him to acknowledge that part of himself that was never allowed before. I think that’s what people are looking for when they search for “Ray Boltz coming out.”
Following the Gossip Trail?
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe it could simply be about Ray, looking for a place that will verify or deny the ‘out’ story they’ve heard somewhere.
What I Think It Means
I like to think it’s about searching for something that will give hope, something that will provide something to hold on to.
I really appreciate that Carol and Ray have been willing to face rejection by those who do not understand.
I’m sure it would not have been their first choice to live so publicly, but they’re helping untold numbers of people just because they’re there.
One of my top posts every week now is about Carol and Ray Boltz. People read this post after finding my blog when they do the “Ray Boltz Coming Out” search.
